DMP - Signs of a Great Shoot
This month, the Digital Media Productions crew teamed up with the Center for eLearning (CeL) to help produce more than 50 videos for two new online courses in American Sign Language, ASL 1140 and ASL 1150. This was truly a team project. In all, it took four DMP crew members, two Multimedia Specialists/Designers and an Instructional Designer from the CeL (who was halfway across the country), four ASL talent who are all deaf, two interpreters (both alums of FSCJ’s ASL/English Interpreting program!), two interpreting student interns, an ASL/English Interpreting faculty member, an adjunct ASL/English Interpreting instructor who wrote the scripts, and the Instructional Program Manager for the ASL/English Interpreting program to make this project happen.
For two days, we shot our actors in a variety of situations and (virtual) locations, signing conversations that will hopefully spark great online discussions for our new ASL students. It was truly a learning experience for all of us, and will hopefully translate into a great learning experience for our FSCJ ASL students as well.
ASL 1140 is being piloted this summer and will go live in the fall 2022. ASL 1150 is being developed now, will be piloted in the fall 2022, and will go live in spring 2023.
