Importing and Exporting Course Content
As part of our course archival process in Canvas, it’s important to ensure that all course materials are securely backed up and easily accessible for future reference. To prepare for the Canvas archival process that begins this fall, it’s important to export your courses to ensure you retain access to your instructional materials. On December 18th, we will begin archiving Canvas courses that are 5 years old or older. For more details on the archival process, refer to the Canvas Course Archival Plan blog post.
This guide will walk you through the steps to export and import Canvas courses, providing a reliable way to save your course content for subsequent use. Additionally, instructions are included to help you access your files and folders through Microsoft OneDrive using your FSCJ credentials.
Why Archive Courses in Canvas?
Archiving your Canvas courses is a proactive approach to maintaining a historical record of your teaching materials. This process is particularly useful for:
Preserving Course Content: Ensures that all instructional materials, assignments, and resources are saved for future reference or reuse.
Facilitating Course Updates: Easily access past courses to import materials and structure into new course shells, simplifying course setup in future terms.
By following this guide, you will be able to securely store your course content and access it as needed.

Steps to Log In to Microsoft OneDrive
Microsoft OneDrive is a secure cloud storage service that allows you to access your files from anywhere and share them with others. Here’s how to log in and start using OneDrive with your FSCJ account:
Launch your preferred web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, or Edge).
In the address bar, type https://onedrive.live.com and press Enter.
Once the OneDrive page loads, click on the Sign In button located in the top-right corner.
Type in your FSCJ account email address (e.g., john.doe@fscj.edu) and click Next.
Input your Microsoft account password and click Sign In.
After successfully signing in, you’ll be directed to your OneDrive dashboard, where you can view, upload, and organize your files and folders.
Using OneDrive, you can store course-related materials, collaborate with colleagues, and access your files from multiple devices, enhancing your productivity and workflow.
As we begin our course archival process, following these steps will help ensure your course content is preserved and readily available for future use. Additionally, leveraging Microsoft OneDrive provides an efficient way to manage and access your instructional materials outside of Canvas. Remember you have up to 1 Terrabyte of space! That is 1,000 Gigabytes!
