Canvas Updates: New Icon Maker and Late Labels
Instructure has monthly releases of its big new features, but from time to time there are small updates shared within Canvas Deploys. Canvas deploys, as opposed to Canvas Feature Releases, are released bi-weekly and contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, clarify interface wording, improve performance, and prepare for new features. This month, a few small updates were share-worthy for everyone here at FSCJ.

Texts to Test Your Loyalty and Security!
Imagine this scenario. It’s just a normal busy work day and you receive a text message to your personal cell phone from your supervisor or other administrator asking for assistance with something only you can help with! Text scams, also known as smishing, are trending frequently these days and can easily get users to engage in the conversation and potentially participate in the scam they’re attempting.

What New Canvas Features Will You Request?
Did you know you can submit a feature request directly to Canvas’ parent company Instructure? Instructure has a community forum called Idea Conversations where users can request and discuss ideas to make Canvas better. You can access the Idea Conversations page in Canvas by going to the Help option on the left-hand navigation menu, and then clicking Submit a Feature Idea.

If you have ever navigated to a broken link or experienced an internet connection issue while in Canvas, you may have seen a “Page Not Found” screen like the one on the right. Hidden inside pages like this are games that you can play! All you have to do is hit the spacebar.
